KINDERGARTEN PROGRAMME

THE PLAYFUL BODY: PROGRAMME FOR SPORTS-FOCUSED KINDERGARTENS
(Ages 4–5)
These kindergarten programmes consist of 3 workshops over 3 weeks, focusing on the body and creativity. They are built around improvisation-based movement games that stimulate the senses, motor skills, and musicality.

The programme culminates in a visit to the Royal Danish Opera, where the children participate in an extended performance workshop on the Opera’s small stage. Here, they get a scenic experience of light, sound, and set design, together with children from other kindergartens.

ABOUT OUR CHILDREN & YOUTH PROGRAMME
How can dance spark imagination, promote inclusion, and strengthen confidence in children and young people? Dansk Danseteater’s Children & Youth Programme focuses on these core areas. We aim to pass on the joy of dance and movement to Denmark’s youngest generations.

“Your programme in Ringsted Sports Kindergarten has been absolutely wonderful. The children have read your bodies and learned that non-verbal language can tell a whole story. We pedagogues have really embraced this in our daily work and actively incorporated it into our pedagogy,”
says educator Tine from Ringsted Sports Kindergarten.

Research shows that physically active, participatory encounters with contemporary dance can create close and inclusive communities and promote well-being, health, and self-esteem in children and young people. As Denmark’s national contemporary dance company, we have a responsibility to strengthen and communicate the role of dance in society.

We take on that responsibility by making the potential of dance accessible to children and youth—as both an art form and a means of expression—through interactive performance concepts and workshops. Dance connects us to our own bodies and to each other—our shared foundation for experiencing the world.
