OUTREACH WORKSHOPS ON TOUR (AGES 15–25)
“The dancers were hugely inspired by the method of creating dance and choreography, and they especially loved working as a group rather than copying specific steps. They really enjoyed the space, where they felt free to move without judgment, while also being inspired by your high level,” says the dance coordinator at Viby Efterskole.
Our outreach workshops are offered in connection with Dansk Danseteater’s annual national tour, and are aimed at young people from primary and secondary schools, talent programs, and cultural institutions. After the workshop, participants attend a performance together in the theatre. This initiative aims to open up the themes of the work, foster reflection, and engage participants physically in the movement language and choreographic concepts of the piece. The goal is to help young people experience live performance and gain an understanding of contemporary dance and the creative processes behind it.
“We experienced an extremely competent instructor who knew how to adapt the material to the target group, so the students got the most out of it. At the same time, we find the combination of workshop and performance to be a really strong concept that enhances the impact of both.
We find it very admirable and generous that Dansk Danseteater reaches out to the emerging cultural environment in Denmark and shares the enormous expertise the company possesses. This is cultural outreach of the highest quality and a valuable contribution to talent development in the performing arts,” says the Artistic Director of Move n’ Act.

ABOUT OUR CHILDREN & YOUTH PROGRAMMES
How can dance spark imagination, promote inclusion, and build self-confidence in children and young people? Dansk Danseteater’s Children & Youth Programme focus on exactly these core areas. We aim to pass on the joy of dance and movement to Denmark’s next generations.
Research shows that physically engaging encounters with contemporary dance can foster strong, inclusive communities and promote well-being, health, and self-esteem in children and youth. As Denmark’s national company for contemporary dance, we have a responsibility to strengthen and share the role of dance in society. We take on this responsibility by making the potential of dance accessible to children and young people—both as an art form and as a means of expression—through interactive performance concepts and workshops. Dance connects us with our own bodies and with each other—dance can be a shared starting point for experiencing the world.
