Join us for a photography exhibition and artist talk with Federica Coseschi in the foyer of the Betty Nansen Theatre’s Edison Scene. Admission is free.
In connection with the dance performance Before the End at Betty Nansen Theatre’s Edison Scene, artist Federica Coseschi presents a series of photographic works in the theatre’s foyer. The works were created through a close collaboration between Coseschi and Danish Dance Theatre and have grown directly out of the creative process behind the performance.
Before the End is directed by Chilean artist Marco Layera and explores a world on the verge of collapse through an intense physical expression, masks, and shifting identities. During the rehearsal period, Coseschi followed the dancers’ work closely—she was present throughout rehearsals and continuously engaged in conversations with the performers about their process.
The photographs shown in the exhibition are shaped by this closeness. They arise both from Coseschi’s own experiences of the work as it was being created, and from the dancers’ reflections on how their bodies and movements can be translated into images. Rather than documenting the performance from the outside, the project developed as a dialogue in which the dancers actively participated in decisions about how their artistic practice is visually represented.
You can experience a free talk with Federica Coseschi and performer Matilde Stefanini. The talk is moderated by Paola Paleari and takes place on February 19.
The photography exhibition will be in the foyer of the Edison Scene of Betty Nansen Theatre from the 13th. Febuary to the 28th of Febuary, and is free to experience.
