Dance and movement for kids inspired by the company’s performances
Danish Dance Theatre For Kids invites all young adventurers aged 5–9 on a journey inspired by our performances. Together, we embark on dreamlike journeys through sensory landscapes and obstacles, choreograph our own superhero duels and slow-motion flower battles, bring stone sculptures to life, transform into imaginative dream catchers, and much more – always with choreography, music, costumes, props, or set design inspired by Danish Dance Theatre’s productions.
Each session offers something new and surprising, ensuring there’s always something exciting and fun on the program!
At the end of each series, we gather everything together for a small performance for the parents, where the children can proudly showcase what they have created and experienced.

Danish Dance Theatre’s primary role is to create dance performances of high artistic quality. However, we also believe that, as Denmark’s leading company in contemporary dance, we possess some of the best conditions to engage more children and youths in the enchanting world of dance. We aim to show children an alternative to the polished images they encounter on their screens at home. Furthermore, we want to emphasize the diversity of the body via play, visual art, and physical expression. Contemporary dance can serve as a much-needed sanctuary from the expectations that many children and young people face today, as dance has a unique ability to break down barriers and create inclusive spaces where everyone can feel welcomed and accepted. We believe that dance can be a driving force in bringing both children and youths back to community, play, and embodiment – ultimately fostering social change and improved mental well-being.
Tickets for the dance experiences are sold in sets of three.
The price is 225 DKK for three sessions.
INFORMATION
AGE: Our experiences are suitable for children aged 5-9. Participation is open to all, regardless of prior experience with dance/movement.
LOCATION: All children will be picked up at the foyer of Takkelloftet, situated at the backside of the main entrance of the Opera, Ekvipagemestervej 10, Copenhagen, 15 minutes before the session starts. Children should come dressed in clothing they feel comfortable moving in.
PRICE: 225 DKK for three sessions.
AVAILABLE SPOTS: There is room for maximum 25 children per session.
