How will the world end? Will we feel it when it happens? Will there be a warning? Or will it just be BANG!, out of the blue?
BEFORE THE END is a dance performance about the moment just before everything collapses. A dystopian carnival, an absurd comedy, an SOS from a nightmare you can’t wake up from.
The performance is directed by Chilean director Marco Layera, who with this work can be experienced in Denmark for the first time. With a radical and intense physical language that goes straight to the body, Layera has established himself as one of the most compelling voices on the international performing arts scene.
In BEFORE THE END, he portrays — with both poetry and grotesque humor — the bodily sensation of living on the edge of collapse: the panic, the anxiety, the sense of release, and the quiet hope that someone will do something.
BEFORE THE END invites the audience into the most frightening moment we can imagine, allowing us to feel what it’s like to stand on the edge — and dare to stay there, together.
The performance is a co-production between Betty Nansen Theatre and Danish Dance Theatre.
NB: The performance contains strobe lighting.
