RUSHTON AND SZABÓ TALK ABOUT ’THE DIARY OF A MADMAN’

Choreographer and Artistic Director Tim Rushton has, for the first time in his long career, written and directed a theatre performance. A performance about a fragile man’s life, dreams and experiences, THE DIARY OF A MADMAN will premiere on the 25th of November.

For a while now, Tim Rushton has been playing with the idea of creating a physical monologue that should be humoristic, reflective and poetic:

Acknowledgement for Ana Sendas og Maxim-Jo Beck McGosh

Danish Dance Theatre’s dancers Ana Sendas and Maxim-Jo Beck McGosh, have been selected to receive the prestigious travel grant from the Ballet Master Albert Gaubiers Fund. The grant is issued every year to Danish, Hungarian and Israeli dancers.

The reception will take place on Wednesday, the 17th of September 2014. The recipients in Denmark are chosen by the fund’s Board of Directors, consisting of Mikael Frydlund, Kjeld Noack and Erik Aschengreen. The grant is given as an acknowledgement of talent.

 

Albert Gaubier, dancer, choreographer and ballet master, was born in Poland where he also received his education. After dancing in Poland he worked in Serge Diaghilev’s famous ballet company ‘Le Ballet Russe’ in Monte Carlo where he danced leading roles in the late 1920’s.

Since its establishment in 1994 the international Tanzmesse nrw has become one of the international hubs for dance professionals from around the world. This year Danish Dance Theatre will perform with an excerpt of Rushtons piece Black Diamond. We will perform the 30th of august, 7pm, tanzhaus, main stage.

 

New Italian Dancer in the Company

Amid green hills and vineyards that go on for miles, tall cypresses that stretch towards the sun, fragrant pine trees providing shady spots and the sound of cicadas buzzing. This is where Danish Dance Theatre’s new dancer, Lucia Pasquini, grew up as a child – in a small Tuscan hamlet.

For those who would like to dance with members of Danish Dance Theatre, Denmark's largest and most award winning modern dance company. Jason Nelson, Emily Nicolaou, Joel Fritzon, Maxim-Jo Beck McGosh, Jernej Bizjak & Miria Pilar Abaurrea will be teaching during the fall. You can experience for yourself their different styles of dance.

Tuesday, the 17th of June at 5:00 pm, Danish Dance Theatre will open up the doors to Studio 7 in Dansehallerne, to give all those who are interested, a seldom glimpse of the activities of the company.

An introduction will be given by Artistic Director, Tim Rushton, together with the dancers of the company, where clips also will be shown from the day-to-day life in the studio. Afterwards, the dancers will perform exclusive, never-before-seen excerpts of some of the works being presented in the upcoming season 2014/2015.

 

Dancer Fabio Liberti’s choreography in international competition

Danish Dance Theatre's dancer, Fabio Liberti, has just been chosen to present his choreography 'Blinking' as part of the 28th International Competition for Choreographers in Hannover.

Last year, Fabio Liberti received an impressive 3rd place with the same work at the Copenhagen International Choreography Competition.

 

He also took part in the International Competition for Choreographers of Hannover in 2013, but at that time was on stage in the choreography 'Mitosis' together with Alessandro Schiattarella from Ballet Basel in Switzerland.
