Reumert-nomination for ‘Dilemma of Obedience’

The company is nominated for "Best Dance Performance of the Year".

Danish Dance Theatre has just been nominated for "Best Dance Performance of the Year" for ’Dilemma of Obedience’, which is choreographed by Edhem Jesenkovic and performed by Danish Dance Theatre’s dancers. The performance premiered on October 9th 2012 at Dansehallerne as part of the double performance ’Walking in the Night’ and received great reviews in the press.

Edhem Jesenkovic is a former dancer from Danish Dance Theatre who is presently part of the ensemble of Carte Blanche in Norway. Edhem describes his choreography ‘Dilemma of Obedience: "A substantial proportion of people do what they are told to do, irrespective of the content of the act and without limitations of conscience, so long as they perceive that the command comes from a legitimate authority. If one looks at Stanley Milgram's well-known experiment an anonymous experimenter could successfully command adults to subdue a fifty-year-old man, and force on him painful electric shocks against his protests, one can only wonder what government, with its vastly greater authority and prestige, can command of its subjects."

The award show takes place at The Opera at the Royal Danish Theater May 5th 2013.
