How can the body and dance move us and arouse emotions in us? And why should we use it at all?<\/p>\n<p>Danish Dance Theater is now releasing a series of moving conversations with dance experts from different perspectives on dance. In the studio, we have everyone from the critic to the Artistic Director and the dancers themselves &#8211; in a basically impossible attempt to articulate a language without language &#8211; the essence of dance.<\/p>\n<p>We talk about topics that are relevant to those of you who are curious about experiencing dance performances, but perhaps haven&#8217;t quite cracked the code on why and how best to go about it. And if you are a dance aficionado, you will have the opportunity to get into the engine room and the thoughts behind both working with dance and various artistic processes around dance.<\/p>\n<p>The hosts behind the microphones are rehearsal director of Danish Dance Theater, Patricia Seron Pawlik, and the theater&#8217;s project developer, Anne Sophie Gertz.<\/p>\n<p>Some episodes will be in English and others in Danish, depending on who we are talking to. (for all episodes &#8211; in Danish and English, go to the Danish site)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the first time our podcast is out of the studio and takes place before an audience, outdoor at Ofelia Plads, venue of the festival Copenhagen Summer Dance.<br \/>\nHere we meet the three choreographers involved, Justin Rapaport and Dorotea Saykaly, who both created very different pieces for Danish Dance Theatre and David C. Price, who together with three dancers from Ukraine created a piece for Holstebro Dance Company. The result is a talk about their very different starting points in creating a piece for the outdoor stage, influenced by the reality around them. The war in Ukraine leaves lasting footprints, while another work was created during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dance films are defined as an interdisciplinary art form at the intersection of dance, choreography, film, and visual art, with a strong emphasis on dance. But what is the justification for dance films as a specific genre? How does a video camera support or challenge dance? Conversely, how does dance contribute to the art of filmmaking? We explore these questions broadly and deeply with the two experts in the field, who have also selected a series of dance films to be screened under the night sky at Copenhagen Summer Dance in July 2023. He is currently working as a choreographer for Danish Dance Theatres large scale production it the Royal Playhouse in October 2023, a symphonic dance work created in collaboration between Danish Dance Theatre and Copenhagen Phil. What is his process in this collaboration and what does he want the dancers and not least the audience to take home with them?
