Rhapsody

Tim Rushton’s piece “Rhapsody” is inspired by John Adams’ “Shaker Loops” – a masterpiece in its own right, which is filled with musical contrasts and surprises, both compelling and urgent; a musical composition which is contagious to the listener due to its minimal style. Both Rushton and the dancers follow Adams’ score with skill and elegance.

The dramas and conflicts of the dancers are evident and presented in such a way that one can follow the underlying harmony. We are in a physically strong universe that is filled with symmetry and balance, where the dancers are not only part of the classical rhythm, but a substantial part of the orchestration.
